This morning the Elks restaurant was serving breakfast so we walked over and enjoyed a great breakfast.

Staying one more night in this beautiful Elks RV park.

I missed a couple of posts, Coos Bay and Brookings. This post catches up.
Just staying one night here at the Brookings Elks. Only offers 30 amp and no sewer for eighteen dollars a night. A dollar more than we paid at the Mill Casino RV Park. This year the lot was a lot fuller than previous years.
The site is not quite level and we are listing to the left so we only put out the right front slide at first. The leveling jack are still not working. They did work at our last stop, Coos Bay. Just love intermittent problems. I decided to try some blocks on the left side and then it was listing to the right but a little bit less and we were able to put the rest of the slides out.
We left from Brookings this morning after debating whether to stay another night because of the weather. It was raining hard and the wind was strong and gusting. I wasn’t anxious to go out into the weather to unhook and connect the Jeep. We weren’t anxious to drive along in wind gusts and on a wet, twisty, and narrow coastal road. In about a half hour the rain let up a little and we decided to continue on to Eureka.
The next morning we hunted down one of the best places we have ever found for breakfast, “Chalet House of Omelettes”. The restaurant is in the front rooms of an old house and the tables are so close together there’s hardly any room to walk.
Chalet House of Omelettes
After breakfast we drove around the waters edge. Across a bridge took us to a peninsula and along the edge were lots of berthed sailboats. Across the water we saw a large mansion that we hadn’t seen before on our drives around the city.
It turned out to be the former home of William Carson a pioneer lumberman and was built in 1885.
The home is now the Ingomar Club, a private club of lawyers and judges. The club added on a large dining room seen on the left.
We are at the The Mill Casino RV park where we stopped last year. Our site is in the front row facing part of Coos Bay. Where we are parked is just down from the Coast Guard Station. Looking through the front windows We can watch tugs moving barges and freighter up and down the bay. A large Coast Guard buoy tender slowly went by on its way out to sea.
We enjoyed full hookups with 5oamps. The park is level, however the sites for some reason are high in the center and lower at each end and it took two blocks in front to level the coach . I guess it works for 5th wheels and trailers but not so much for motorhomes.
From here we’re traveling down to Brookings.
We arrived at the Brookings Elks a little afternoon. It rained on us most of the way to Brookings and was lightly raining when we arrived.
One of the two pull-through sites at the Brookings Elks
The sites here are level with water and 30amp electric. Besides the two pull-through sites, there are several back in sites. Located a mile or so from town, its very quite here unless the Elks are gathering. Satellite has a clear view. Didn’t try the off-the-air reception, but I would think it would be good here also
We’re at one of our favorite Elks campground just outside of Florence. This RV park is located in a rustic wooded area. They also have a “RV park” in town on the parking lot next to the lodge. We’re in space 8. The sites have EW, 50amps, cable TV and Wifi. The cable TV at our site was poor. No cell signal.
While Ty and I were walking around the campground we came upon a few deer also walking around.
The first stop the “Honey Bear Yarn Shop”
Ty waiting for his mom to return.
We went out for dinner and decided to try out the Maple St Grille. The outside looked like a really large restaurant but it only occupies a small part of the lower front. About six or so tables. Debbie tried tried the crab cakes and I had a sandwich. We enjoyed talking with the owner but the food wasn’t very good.
We arrived here at the RV park in Tillamook on Sunday in time to catch the afternoon football game. The sites here are slanted down at the rear so the back end of the RV has to be raised to level the unit. The worst cast scenario. It does have full hookups and 50amps.
After setting up we drove back into town to Jayne’s, one of Debbie’s favorite quilt shops. A stop at Fred Myers and back to the Horizon.
The next afternoon we drove a few mile back up the coast to the Pirates Cove restaurant.
A look around the corner to the side entrance. A view of the bay.
Our corner table is waiting.
The restaurant has a fantastic location on the bay. The view from our table.
To bad the food wasn’t as good as the view.
We’re ready to leave the Shelton Elks. Its Tuesday morning and the sun is shining after pouring down all night. We enjoyed our stay here. Its very quite and secluded. Our timing was fortunate, last weekend was Shelton’s Oysterfest and the park was full.
This is a view looking across the park to the rear of our pull through site 6. The sites are spaced far apart and the park is located in a wooded setting.
Well we left Port Susan around nine-thirty this morning and pulled into the Shelton Elk’s RV park around noon. The park only has two other RVs that appear to be unoccupied. We stopped in one of the pull-through and I connected the water and the 30 amp power. The sites have a lot of space between and are extra long. Not exactly level but not too bad. We had good cell and internet service. From site 6 we had clear sat signal. The park has a lot of trees so some sites may not have a clear satellite view.
Just after I finished setting up it started raining. Ty always wants out when we arrive at our destination so I thought I would take him out in the rain and then he could just come back in and be satisfied. Glad I put on my rain coat because he didn’t seem to notice the rain. We walked around for about a half and hour. He came back in soaked and spent the next hour drying off. Boy is he soft and fluffy now!
Finally on the road again. Debbie and I have finished all our doctor and dentist rounds. I just had a new crown installed yesterday, the last appointment, and we got away around 10:30 this morning. It was tough leaving our new granddaughter but her parents are bringing her up to Washington to visit next week. Yea!
We arrived at the Elks in Redding at about 105 degrees in the afternoon, disproving Debbie’s claims that its always 107 when we stop here.
The lot was overflowing with cars. The Elks were having a 4th of July picnic. They have a huge pool, patio and lawn behind the Hall. We checked inside. We originally thought we would have a drink and relax in the lounge but it was almost as hot inside as it was outside so we just went back to the Horizon where our air conditioner kept it comfortable, and cooler than the lodge. Our neighbors here told me its supposed to be hotter tomorrow, maybe Debbie is right after all. I’m not going to tell her and we’re leaving in the morning for for Seven Feather RV Park near Canyonville, Or.
PARK: Paved parking lot with trees down each row. The back-in RV parking is along the outside edges.
SITE: We are in site 16. Sites are large enough for the slides and awning and level, RATE: $20.
UTILS: 30/ 50amp and water at rear of sites, untested the free WI-FI, Verizon cell / data signal good. Satellite signal ok.
Our dinner at Jokos Steak House last night was fantastic. We both ordered filets which arrived cooked perfectly. The filets were so large, mine was about four inches thick, that we only ate about half and brought the rest home. Jokos steak was almost as good as the steak we had at Far West Tavern a year or so ago. Planning to try theirs again tomorrow!
Today we just loafed around the Horizon. Debbie is coming down with some kind of muck and we decided to rest up and hope she feels better tomorrow. We have a really nice site here with full hook ups.
Yesterday when we arrived I only connected the power cord so today I finished connecting the water and sewer. When I went to dump I discovered the fitting on the sewer hose no longer fit tight and kaka started leaking out. Fortunately not too much. I cleaned up the bottom of the compartment with diluted bleach and then replaced the broken fitting using the one from the extension hose. A cautious test proved the replacement made a tight seal and I completed the tanks dump.
Debbie and Ty went out for some fresh air on the lawn behind the Horizon.
Ty looks serious.
