Pismo Beach VI

The day after Thanksgiving we all went down to the beach and to the Monarch Butterfly trees.

The butterflies live high in the top of the trees.

One more blog should take care of Thanksgiving pictures. Still have the butterflies and Pismo’s main drag.

Pismo Beach–Thanksgiving

Pismo Beach for Thanksgiving. We went down in the Horizon for a family get together at Debbie’s folks home. Their home is located right on one of the fairways of the Black Lakes golf course.  We parked the Horizon about ten miles south at Santa Maria Elks.  Blake, Stacey and Claire stayed at the house. Brad, Amy and Angela stayed with Debbie and I.

Thanksgiving day we all gathered around the Thanksgiving table for a turkey dinner. Blake brined the bird again this year and we again barbequed it. I thought I would try a timer shot and it turned out really well. Even the baby was looking at the camera sitting on the buffet.

Claire dressed for dinner but the process didn’t make her very happy as you can tell by the red eyebrows, but she’s happy now its done.

Ukiah, CA

We drove from Eureka down to Ukiah CA today.  We normally stop a little farther south in Hopland at an Indian Casino.
We’re stopped at the Redwood Empire Fair RV Park fairgrounds. The RV parking is flat and the sites are level and all are pull-through.

This turned out to be a great stopping spot on the way home. Tomorrow we’ll head on home, we’re anxious to see the granddaughter.

Eureka California

We left from Brookings this morning after debating whether to stay another night because of the weather.  It was raining hard and the wind was strong and gusting. I wasn’t anxious to go out into the weather to unhook and connect the Jeep. We weren’t anxious to drive along in wind gusts and on a wet, twisty, and narrow coastal road.  In about a half hour the rain let up a little and we decided to continue on to Eureka.

The next morning we hunted down one of the best places we have ever found for breakfast, “Chalet House of Omelettes”. The restaurant is in the front rooms of an old house and the tables are so close together there’s hardly any room to walk.

After breakfast we drove around the waters edge. Across a bridge took us to a peninsula and along the edge were lots of berthed sailboats.  Across the water we saw a large mansion that we hadn’t seen before on our drives around the city.

It turned out to be the former home of William Carson a pioneer lumberman and was built in 1885.

The home is now the Ingomar Club, a private club of lawyers and judges. The club added on a large dining room seen on the left.
