Puerto Penasco

We left Gila Bend this morning in the second of two groups of motorhomes. Each group consisted of 14 units. Got up earlier than usual, 5am, and enjoyed a continental breakfast in the club house before leaving. Last night we hooked up with a rowdy group, three couples, from the Austin, Texas area and they sure are characters. We had the best time listening to their stories. Their wonderful accents remind me of our family trips back to Oklahoma when I was a boy.

Anyway we had an uneventful trip down here. We were waved through at the boarder although a Mexican boarder guard stopped the motorhome in front of us and appeared to take a quick walk through.

When we first arrived I tried the internet and had a good, strong signal but no service. This evening it seems to be working fine, so I may be able to keep you up with our activities.

I walked down to the beach and on the way back took this picture of somebody else's motorhome. I thought the green Horizon sticking out in the middle of the row was mine but we are parked on the next row over! But hey there are a Lot of motorhomes crammed in here.

Happy hour started at the Puesta Del Sol restaurant at 4pm. The Margaritas are two bucks and are really good and really strong. At 5:30 we enjoyed a Mexican buffet. We have been told the water here is ok and all the food is safe. Well it's 9pm and so far so good.

Here are half of the Texans; Richard, Jerry and Jackie.

And here is Debbie with the other half; Carol, Martha and Mary

After dinner we started back to the campground and found a beautiful sunset.

We walked on path along the beach and at the front of the RV park. We are about 4 units back from the beach and have a ocean view looking out the driver's side window!

Tomorrow we are starting the day with a car tour of the city. We will follow the tour leader while he comments on points of interest on the FSR radio. After that we're free until happy hour and dinner at the restaurant.
