Cape Disappointment State Park

We arrived at Fort Canby also known as Cape Disappointment State Park shortly after lunch around 1:30.  Because last year when we arrived there were people in our site who had not yet pulled out so we just changed to another close open site. Because there is no cell service down here we had to drive back to the ranger station to inform them of the change and make sure our new site was available. We then got set up and found we didn’t  have a satellite signal. So we moved again and made another trip the ranger’s station. The round trip takes about 20 minutes.  To avoid that past embarrassment, I ask  the ranger at check-in if she could mark other available sites on our park map in case we need to change from the one we were assigned. She look up on the computer and determined there weren’t any other available sites. In past years the park has been less than half full, but this year we’re a few weeks earlier, but I don’t know if it’s because its earlier in the year or more people are camping.  Luckily the site I picked, 31, worked fine.  Ty is in the window, opposite the jack-o-lantern.

Site 31 is level with a good view of the satellite. No cell service or internet, but that’s true for the whole site.
